    1. The I START Tool with Cate Barclay

    This is a 20-minute video.

    In this video we talk about each of the 6 key parts of the I START tool and the easy read book written all about it.

    Cate is a disabled woman with both lived and professional experience within the disabled community. Her background includes working in not for profit organisations, government, and education settings. She brings her passion for inclusion, Easy Read writing skills, and accessibility knowledge to the team. She is the Easy Read Project Officer for the Project.

    2. I am capable - exploring empowerment for women and girls with disability with Jenny Watts-Sampson

    This is a 21-minute video.

    Jenny Watts-Sampson has worked for many years delivering training around domestic and family violence against women and children with disability.

    Join Jenny as she explores empowerment for women and girls with disability through storytelling. As we know, it sometimes can feel like our lives and our choices are being determined by others, particularly our personal relationships. Let's explore together a scenario that shares the experience of Alex and discover what empowerment is and how healthy relationships maintain our safety, choice and control.


    3. The Sexual Rights of People with Disability- why some people pay for sex by Rachel Wotton

    This is a 59-minute video.

    Rachel shares her PhD research in an accessible and interesting way. Rachel Wotton is a sex worker, academic, consultant and educator. She’s previously held positions with SWOP NSW, Scarlet Alliance – the Australian Sex Workers’ Association and Touching Base – which brings sex workers and people with disability together. In 2011 Rachel was featured in an Australian documentary, Scarlet Road, which outlined her work with clients with disability. Her Masters research focused on Sex workers who provide services to clients with disability in New South Wales, Australia, and she spoke more about this topic in her TEDx Bunbury talk; "Open your mind to what goes on behind closed doors". She is a Churchill Fellowship recipient and has just completed her PhD at Western Sydney University (WSU), which is what she will be talking about in her presentation.


    4. Personal safety and autism – a personal reflection by Yenn Purkis

    Content Warning - In this video Yenn talks about sexual violence and discrimination. Please take care of yourself when watching this video. This presentation will look at Yenn's experience and contrast it with what I think the world should look like in terms of safety, respect and body autonomy – and ways people can support safety for everyone. Yenn Purkis is an Autistic and ADHD advocate, presenter and author. They are also non-binary and Asexual - among other intersectional groups! Yenn has been working in the disability advocacy space for over twenty years. They are passionate about inclusion, respect and safety for Disabled folks. Yenn is the Deputy CEO - External Relations at the Disability Leadership Institute.


    5. What do sexual rights mean to me? Including a new song! By Racheal Leahcar

    This is a 30-minute video.

    Racheal Leahcar is a musician with dynamic range, explosive vocals and powerful performance have stunned audiences across the globe. Her career has seen her release 3 top 10 ARIA charting albums, tour her live show to sold out crowds and travel to Italy to sing with Andrea Bocellis orchestra. Rachael has shown that she is a capable of achieving anything despite being legally blind. Rachael today is going to be speaking about her experience of what sexual right for people with disability means to her. She will also share her newly written song around sexual rights for people with disability called “ Burning in the Light”.


    6. Safety Awareness in today's world - A talk by Kate Feidler

    Hear Kate delve into what safety looks like for her as a woman with disability. In this speech she will speak about personal experiences in relation to living independently, using public transport & working with support workers. The transcript for the video is below. Kate has been living independently in Albury for around 14 years. She enjoys live music and in particular Aussie music. Kate also volunteers in Melbourne each year for the Good Friday Appeal (19 years) and the Olivia Newton John Wellness Walk (10 years). She also spends one afternoon a week tutoring primary school kids from the CALD community.


    7. Growing Together - Poetry Reading by Adam McKay

    This is a 13-minute video.

    Adam is a passionate writer, and in this presentation shares his personal experiences with us through the art of poetry. Adam McKay is a person with a disability. He has been abused so he know how it feels. Writing these stories was a way to help himself and help others. These stories will help others with disabilities and who have experienced abuse to show how to recover from bullying and abuse. He is a Christian, a horticulturalist and runs his own business called Adam the First Gardener. He is a roadie. He has been a wildlife carer and many other things. He likes writing poems and stories, bushwalking, and camping when he can. He is loyal to his friends and family and will protect anyone before he protects himself. He is learning to respect himself and writing his book with Safer Me Safer You has helped him to see that. He treats people the way he likes to be treated. His book is available on our website.


    8. New Easy Read Online Safety Resources by SACID and SMSY - with Melinda Brown and Aerina Yun

    Safer Me Safer You and the South Australian Council on Intellectual Disability co-designed some fantastic easy read resources all about online safety. Listen as Mel and Aerina from SACID share about the new resources. You can find the resources and more at https://sacid.org.au/ Melinda Brown is an inclusion adviser. Melinda is a passionate self advocate from Adelaide. She likes to speak up for the rights of people with disability and does so through the many groups she's involved in. Melinda is employed by the South Australian Council on Intellectual Disability, SACID, as an inclusion adviser. She's also a member of the Participant Reference Group for the NDIS. Melinda is also a peer mentor for Our Voice South Australia, where she runs peer groups. Her goal is to break down barriers in communication for people with intellectual disability so they can get information in a way that they need and that is accessible. Aerina Yun, is the Project Officer Inclusion Services. Aerina works at SACID as a Project Officer on the Inclusion Services Team. She has an extensive experience in co design and creating accessible resources, such as videos and Easy Read. She has previously worked on SACID's workshop team, co designing and delivering capacity building workshops for people with intellectual disability and families across South Australia. She's also led the Cyber Wise Project, co designing an accessible online training module about online safety for people with intellectual disability. She's completed a Bachelor of Social Work degree from the University of South Australia
